I’m a scientist; she’s an engineer. We’ve lived in Austin since 1991. We lived near Hyde Park for 19 years, downtown for 2 years, and Allandale for the past 6 years. We like music, art, food, and the goofiness that Austin sometimes offer. Many Austinites (including those that have lived here a week) grouse about how good things used to be around here. While there are things and places we miss, we’ve embraced the changes, many of which have made this town better. We lean toward smaller-scale, more intimate events (for example, we don’t partake in ACL). As I like to say: If I can’t spit on the band, I don’t want to be there.
